LPC Distinguished Researcher

Name:

Lovedeep Kaur Saini

What I will be working on:

In 2016, I intend to focus on searches of new physics in processes that involve the production of the Higgs boson. Analysis would involve the Higgs boson decay to a pair of photons that is known for its striking detector signature. The excellent resolution of the CMS ECAL detector gives a fairly narrow signal region and defines large sidebands for background estimation in the diphoton invariant mass space. In addition to this, I currently am and will continue to remain a prominent contributor towards HCAL calibration, primarily working on developing the gamma+jet balancing method.

My role in CMS past and present:

My association with the CMS experiment began in 2008 as a graduate student from Panjab U, India. Currently I am a Post-Doctoral Research Associate with the Kansas State University stationed at LPC since July, 2013. During my long association with CMS, I have worked on cross-section measurements for inclusive W/Z, Wγ, Zγγ, Z/γ* + jets processes with Run1 data. Other than that I have been contributing at Egamma-POG, HCAL calibration group and also at several LPC events.
