LPC Distinguished Researcher

Name:

Si Xie

What I will be working on:

During my time as a LPC Distinguished Researcher, I will work on searches for Supersymmetry using the razor variables, inclusively in the hadronic and leptonic final states, as well as in final states with a Higgs in the decay chain. I will also work on searches for direct dark matter production using razor variables. Building on collaboration with colleagues at Fermilab, I will work on research and development of detector technologies for the CMS Phase 2 upgrade. In particular, I will work on aspects of fast timing detectors, at the Fermilab testbeam facility, and on the R&D program and test beams for the Phase2 CMS calorimeter.

My role in CMS past and present:

I joined CMS in 2008 and served as the L3 coordinator of Data Transfers and Integrity in CMS computing. In Run1, I worked on the Higgs to WW and ZZ searches, which successfully observed the Higgs boson in 2012. Subsequently, I worked on the measurements of Higgs properties in the 4-lepton decay channel. During LS1 between 2013 and 2014, I worked on the upgrade of the photodetectors in the CMS HO from HPD's to SiPM's.
