Description

With the start-up of collisions in the LHC in 2009 the fundamental physics entered the most exciting era of our generation. Proton-proton collisions at LHC probe tiniest distances ever achieved in a laboratory, and there are strong arguments suggesting that new physical principles should be detectable at these scales. Final states with third generation particles (b- or t- quark, or taus) provide a unique possibility to probe theoretical extensions of the standard model. I will discuss the experimental techniques used in searches for new physics, and will present the latest results from CMS, including searches for SUSY, leptoquarks and more, and will discuss the future prospects at the LHC.
