What I will be working on:

I plan to expand the existing program of high-pT Higgs boson searches at the LPC by analyzing the 2017 and 2018 data, incorporating improvements from deep learning in the Higgs-tagging strategy, and separating H → bb and H → cc candidates. I will also initiate activities related to analyzing CMS scouting data. I will contribute to the Phase-2 Level-1 Global Correlator Trigger upgrade, specifically to the interfaces between the upstream detectors and the Global Correlator as well as the hardware demonstrator system based at the LPC. Finally, I plan to explore applications of machine learning in FPGAs for high energy physics trigger, DAQ, and offline computing.

My role in CMS past and present:

I joined CMS as a PhD student in 2011, working on third generation SUSY searches with razor variables. Between 2013 and 2015, I served as the Alignment and Calibration HLT contact. Toward the end of my PhD studies in 2016, I began working on dijet searches with scouting data. As a Lederman fellow (since 2016), I shifted my focus to searches for gluon fusion produced H → bb as well as searches for beyond the standard model spin-0 particles, which may act as dark matter mediators. I am also involved in the Phase-2 Level-1 Global Correlator Trigger upgrade and the hls4ml project, which aims to develop tools for fast machine learning inference in FPGAs. I am currently co-leading the CMS subgroup on exotic searches with jets in the final state.
