LPC Physics Forum

  • What is it?
Physics Forum (PF), started back in 2006, has been providing a unique basis for engaging "on-the-floor" discussions amongst many LPC members. It provides possibilities for energetic cross-fertilization of ideas between analyzers as well as gives exposure to our young colleagues.

The forum is an interactive seminar, i.e. questions from the audience during the seminar are highly encouraged. The use of the smart board is highly encouraged. The smart board is an electronic white board that also allows to load slides. The speaker can switch between prepared plots/figures/slides and else write on the board. Therefore the speaker can answer questions more easily. The speaker is asked to prepare the seminar in a way that allows for this type of discussions.

  • When?
PF typically occurs about twice a month on Thursdays and can be CMS-restricted or open (anyone can join the audience). Nominal time slot is 1.00pm Thursdays with a duration about an hour, but can accommodate a different time slot to the speaker's availability.

  • Where?
The physical conference room for PF is Sunrise Room at WH11NE at Fermilab.
The physics forum seminar will be also broadcasted via zoom. The zoom link agenda can be found at the respective meeting indico page. The passcode for the zoom room will be distributed via the e-mail announcement, but can also be requested per e-mail at lpc-pf AT fnal.gov.

  • Note
If the topic says "CMS only" it means PF talk is restricted to CMS collaborators only. For closed fora, only CMS members can access the agenda. If it says "Open" it is open to all interested in the topic.

  • Contact:
You can contact the physics forum committee via lpc-pf AT fnal.gov.
The current committee members are Rajdeep Chatterjee, Jennet Dickinson (chair), Yongbin Feng, Richa Sharma, and Jingyu Zhang.
