LPC Graduate Scholar

Name:

David Sheffield

What I will be working on:

I am searching for new physics decaying to three jets. In addition to looking for higher mass resonances in Run II I am extending the search to lower masses that CMS has not been able to look at in the past by using scouting and merged jets. I am continuing to work on developing scouting for use in analyses. I also work on HCAL calibration using dijet balancing.

My role in CMS past and present:

I began work on CMS in 2010 as an undergraduate looking for Randall-Sundrum gravitons before joining Rutgers's group as a graduate student and working on RPV SUSY. I am one of Exotica's generator contacts and work in the HCAL group on calibration. I helped to implement PF scouting for Run II.
