Name:

Kalanand Mishra

What I will be working on:

As an LPC fellow I will focus on studies related to Higgs boson and electroweak symmetry breaking. I am specifically interested in events containing two or more heavy gauge bosons in final states that include lepton + jets + missing transverse energy (MET). I will work on characterizing high mass WW events in vector boson fusion topology that can reveal secrets of electroweak symmetry breaking or new physics at the electroweak scale.

My role in CMS past and present:

I played a leading role in measuring reconstruction/identification/ triggering efficiencies for electrons in CMS, calibration of jet energy scale, and development of jet identification criteria with early data. I was a central contributor to the CMS measurements of the inclusive W/Z cross sections where I co-led the Z analysis team. I led the CMS analysis team that measured the sum of WW and WZ production rates and set stringent limits on anomalous gauge boson couplings. I contributed to the first comprehensive measurements of jet substructure in CMS. I also led the search for Higgs boson in WW decay in the semi-leptonic final state.
