What I will be working on:

I will be giving the second half of the LPC Instrumentation course. In this second semester the focus will be in the upgrades planned for HL-LHC and on future directions in detectors and detector technology.

My role in CMS past and present:

  • Level 2 Project Manager for the US-CMS contribution to the construction of the CMS Electromagnetic Calorimeter 1995 - 2008
  • Project Manager for the CMS Electromagnetic Calorimeter, 2009 - 2010.
  • Co-convener of the Forward Detector Upgrade Working group to develop plans for the upgrade of the CMS detector for the High Luminosity LHC
  • One the proponents of HGCAL for the replacement of the endcap calorimeters, with Jim Virdee and Marcello Mannelli
  • Co-leader for High-Granularity Endcap Calorimeter testbeam and system test group
  • Recently my group was the lead on the precise measurement of the Higgs Boson’s mass that CMS published early in 2020
  • I currently serve as chair of the High Granularity Calorimeter Institution Board
