LPC Distinguished Researcher

Name:

Marco Trovato

Institution:

Northwestern University

What I will be working on:

During my period as LPC Distinguished Researcher, I will continue working on the L1 tracking trigger for the phase 2 upgrade of CMS. I plan to finalize the integration of the data delivery and track fitting in the whole trigger chain. The integration will be performed on the (pulsar) boards, designed by the Fermilab engineers. In addition, I will be working on searches for direct dark matter production. The plan is to optimize the search of dark matter produced in association with top pairs. I will also work on the grand combination of dark matter analyses, which involve all dark matter searches at CMS.

My role in CMS past and present:

As postdoctoral researcher I have been working on the development of a L1 tracking trigger (Associative Memory+FPGA approach) for the phase 2 upgrade of CMS. My focus has been on data delivery and track fitting in the FPGAs. In addition, my focus has been on searches of dark matter produced in association with top pairs. The combination of dark matter plus heavy flavors (e.g: top and bottom quarks) is expected to be published soon. Last but not least, I was co-convener of the tracking at High-Level Trigger in 2014 and early 2015 before the LHC resumed its data operation.
