LPC AI Fellow

Name:

Matteo Cremonesi

Institution:

Notre Dame

What I will be working on:

As an LPC AI Fellow, I will be working on the deployment of graph neural networks (GNNs) on field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs), in order to use them in the upgrade of the CMS L1 trigger. In particular, I am interested in the applications of GNNs for missing transverse momentum (MET) reconstruction. A MET trigger optimized with GNNs would have a large impact on those measurements and searches that rely primarily on MET triggers and that are currently limited by their performance, like searches for dark matter (DM) in events with large MET

My role in CMS past and present:

  • 2015–2019: L3 Co-Manager of the Production and Reprocessing (P&R) group
  • 2015–2019: Co-Manager of the LHC Big Data project
  • 2018-present: Co-Manager of the Column Object Framework For Effective Analysis project (COFFEA) project
  • 2020-present: L3 Co-Convener of the MET group
